It seems like just yesterday that Coach Steve Kloke first stepped onto the Mark Morris campus. With ten years of basketball coaching experience at Mark Morris, to say that he has had his impact on the program would be an understatement. He began his Monarch career as the sophomore coach and had amazing success. Five years ago, he moved to varsity assistant, and has provided a positive influence in player development, insights to strategies, motivation, and overall game preparations. Coach Kloke specialties are developing zone offenses, timing and fundamentals of guard play, and adjustments throughout games. "Besides being a great friend, Steve has a vast amount of basketball knowledge for the game. He relates very well to our players and teaches the game in a way that can be understood. I can see why he is such a great educator in social studies and why the students all rave about having him as a teacher. He is one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever been around"states Coach Bakamus Steve is the product of Anacortes High School and Western Washington University. He was an all league performer in hoops at AHS, and was knowned in Anacortes for being able to ride a "wheelie" on his sting ray bike for over a block! He credits his coach, Dave Quall, for helping form his current coaching philosophy, while playing basketball at Skagit Valley Community College. Coach Kloke spends any time he can fly fishing, interpreting gang graffiti, and collecting old antique hub caps. Steve and his wife, ex Monarch standout Lisa Cooley, have recently added to their family with the birth of daughter . His older daughter, Jessalyn Rose, has her dad wrapped around her little finger. |
