Who says that a player who has the desire to go on and play college basketball have the cards stacked against them? Granted, being able to play at “the next level” is demanding, and few get the opportunity, but many of the past Monarchs have found their way to outstanding college careers. Some have played locally, others nationally, some internationally, and some have found their way to NBA careers. During Coach Bill Bakamus tenure at Mark Morris, 23 players from Mark Morris High School have had the opportunity to go on and showcase their skills. “If a player has a burning desire to get better, if they dedicate themselves completely, and show great work ethic, most likely there will be some interest from college coaches at some level. I am proud of the players who have gone on and represented our school beyond their years of playing for the Monarchs”says Coach Bakamus. Dating back to the early 70’s, and prior to Coach Bakamus’ arrival, Mark Morris has had a host of players to take their skills to the next level..Most notably Doug Christie (NBA), Bill Dunlap and Brian Fredrickson (GonzagaWayne Deckman (UPS), Scott Brownrigg (SPU), Brad Olson (Warner Pacific), Steve Johnson (WESTMONT) Bruce Mann (WSU) to name a few. We are proud of all past and present Monarchs who have taken their skills to the college level. |
